INAUGURAZIONE DELLA LAND "GIARDINO D'ASCOLTO"

My SL Papi, Massimo Blinker, invited me to sing for the opening of Giardino d'ascolto, Garden of Listening.  Which is going to be made available for counseling and to provide a safe place in which to do so.

They wrote a nice article about the concert while it was going on.  IT was very flattering (at least the google translated version I read, since the article was written in Italian.)

Here's the link to the article in full on it's original page.

Tinys!

Taylee (as an albino ferret) and I exploring the world of
Motorbiking, Tiny-style.
So Taylee and I have been introduced to a world that was a long time in coming.  We both have our issues with RL and rely on Second Life as an escape, and these little critters supply EXACTLY the kind of diversion we need.  They're cute.  They're cuddly.  They're ever so slightly dysfunctional!

Pirate Cranston (Yeah, we're still doing that, even as tinies)
and Taylee on our Tiny galleon at Marathon Caye.
After a number of trial Tiny choices, I have settled on the ferret, and have done my fair share of "oopsing" (another word for spending lindens) to outfit him.  My Tiny has even got the signature Cranston Yordstorm hair.  I think Taylee has decided on the bunny, though in one of the pics you can see her experimenting with an albino ferret (pink being her favorite color.)

Thanks to our good friend, Druscilla Ferraris, Taylee and I have begun to explore this good-hearted and impish side of Second Life.  We look forward to making new friends, exploring new worlds and gorging ourselves on Peanut Budder and Waffles!!!

Tiny meets human as my friend Jaimes Sharpesworth drops
in to Marathon Caye and we introduce him to the world of
Tiny-dom.

Up In The Air, Jr. Birdman!!!

Okay Okay So clearly I've been lax on blogging about my travels in SL.  Well here is something to remedy that a little.  So, a few mornings ago, I was up early and OOPSING (an affectionate term Taylee and I use for when we make an impulsive extravagant purchase ... lol,) and happened upon a really cool World War II era Aviators cap on market place.  Well, with a little modding to make it my own, I began the elusive search for a nice-looking bomber jacket which I finally found at a store called Lapointe & Bastchild.  They are well textured and come in a fat pack of six colors, as well as a resizer.

Well ... sure as you knew it, the OOPSING began in earnest, as NOW Tay and I needed a suitable aircraft.  My RL father was an airplane pilot and I pretty much grew up with it, fiddling with flight simulators, as well as actually taking to the skies with my father whenever possible.  I've owned a number of SL airplanes and my particular favorites ar ones made by Drusilla Saunders.  So Taylee and I found this GREAT one.  A King Air C90 Sailplane.  This baby's APPOINTED, let me tell ya!  And the realest (at least as real as I'd like to get without actually logging any hours behind the wheel of a REAL C90) aviation experience.

Cranston's Casual Look #3

I'm looking forward to spending a nice afternoon with my lovely, Taylee.  And not having a formal gig tonight.  There will probably be a concert at Club CTO tonight, but it'll probably only be me, as it's Keeba Tammas' off-week, and BigJim Allerhand is taking the night off.  At any rate, it'll be casual.

This is a combination of the companies Sey, Hoorenbeck and Hello Dave (quite a name, lol.)

The brown crawler (Sweatshirt) is from SEY.  CLICK HERE FOR LANDMARK
The beige and olive baseball shirt is from Hoorenbeck.  CLICK HERE FOR LANDMARK.
The Jeans are from Hello Dave. CLICK HERE FOR THEIR MARKETPLACE STORE.

If you're curious, this picture was taken at our sim, The Woods Of Marathon Caye.  The fox is from Zooby.

Cranston Formal Look #1

Might as well mention the person who suggested the recent clothing upgrade.  Our good friend, Cindy Gedenspire :)

Decided to try this out for my formal gigs this evening at Charleston Lace and Bogart's.

Once again ... Sartoria

Their regent suit, gold & black with Kalnin's Martino shoes.

Great night of SL performing tonight!

Jazzy Guitar at Charleston Lace
What a great night performing in SL tonight!  Two wonderful venues in Charleston Lace and Bogart's Jazz.

Now, I'll fully admit that I don't play an instrument, (Well, at least not well enough to make it a part of my performances yet,) but I do making it LOOK like I do, and also doing instrument themed shows.

Mellow Piano arrangements at Bogart's Jazz
Tonight at Charleston Lace, I decided to go with a guitar theme.  Lots of high energy Swing, Rockabilly, and Jazz, as well as some Neil Diamond and Eric Clapton.  Bogart's Jazz featured some piano accompaniments, and provided for some more mellow arrangements.

It was GREAT to see a couple of old friends in Amaya Ametza and Christine Haiku.  Good souls and good friends.

Thanks to everyone for braving the SL upgrades and coming on out.  The ONLY thing that was missing terribly from the evening was the lovely lady on the piano, my wife Taylee.  Love you Sweetie. XOXOXOXOXOX.

Cranston's Casual Look #2

I'm standing outside our cabin on Marathon Caye.
A good friend of Taylee's and mine suggested we look at Sartoria for menswear.  I'm always looking for new ways to dress down, and found a few things.  What I have here is a combination of Hoorenbeck and Sartoria.

Hoorenbeck's brown western shirt with their blue/gray baseball shirt underneath & Sartoria's patchwork bermuda shorts.

Also found some new formal things which I'll feature in future posts.

Fashion?!? From Cranston?!?

OKAY OKAY OKAY!!!

Look!

I do have particular things I like to wear, and particular things I DON'T like to wear.  Some would call me a prim hog or prim whore, but I'd rather SEE a pocket on the back of my pants and I'd rather see the prim collar or hoody as opposed to having it painted on.  I also like options and fat-packs!

That being said .. if you happen to feel the way I do?  and you're a male on SL, (Or a female looking for something for your male on SL,) perhaps I can be of assistance.

Here's one of my casual looks:

Green Crawler/Hoodie from SEY

Blue/Gray Baseball Shirt from Hoorenbeek

Khaki Cargo Pants from Hoorenbeek

The crawler/sweatshirt comes in many colors, and they even have a fat pack (Did I mention I like fat packs, creators?!) as does the Baseball Shirt.

The Cargo pants come in a combo with Shorts above and below the knee as well.

As for the hair, skin, shape ... I leave you that to figure out on your own.

OH! .... and lately I like to go around barefoot.  But stay tuned for some cool footwear options as well.

COLOR TOUR!

As fall begins to work it's way into the midwestern United States, bringing all the brilliant color that comes associated with it (at least in MY neck of the RL woods,) I marvel at the breathtaking scenery changing around me.  I drove 2 1/2 hours to my nieces wedding yesterday, with a lot of things weighing on my mind.  Allowing myself to escape a little into the audiobook I had taken on the trip (I'm in the 4th book in Stephen King's Dark Tower series, and my favorite one, Wizard and Glass,) managed to divert for a while, but after a while, I became even more distracted by the splashes of color peering out from in between the cover of green that sped past me as I drove.  I encountered an odd feeling of the car driving me, as opposed to me driving the car (This happens to me a lot on long trips nowadays, ever since my driving trip out to Seattle in the late 90's for work.)  I felt like a passenger, and this was a not-altogether-uncomfortable feeling.  Fear not, dear reader, eyes were still focused on the road ahead, but they were also acutely aware of the surroundings. So, in my touring vehicle, I enjoyed watching the peculiar, tiny, almost-candy-apple-red splotches as they would poke themselves out of the verdant greenery that was the natural order of things, and as I approached, and as the perspective changed, more of the crimson showed itself, as if willing itself to crawl out of its coat of green.  I love this time of year, particularly for the changes it brings to nature.

When I design the look for The Woods Of Marathon Caye, the sim where Taylee and I call home, (and which is currently open to the public,) a major influence is what I see in RL, and is usually an attempt to recreate that.  Though I did not discover them on my own, I have an appreciation for the design of the trees of Botanical at Straylight for that very reason.

These trees are amazing, with their versatility, well-drawn textures, and attention to detail.  We've dotted The Woods Of Marathon Caye with many of these trees, to denote the change in the season from summer to fall, so if you haven't come to The Woods Of Marathon Caye in a while, and have a yen for the change in seasons, be sure to come on over.  You're in for a treat.  I often find myself designing with a self-serving mindset, which fortunately seems to match Taylee's perfectly.  So many times during the day, rather than log out, I'll just sit myself down on a bench or under a tree and watch the leaves fall (Yes, Botanical trees do that as well in their autumn colors.)  Come On Over and enjoy the autumn at The Woods Of Marathon Caye.

Awesome Friday evening!

So last night after doing some maintenance work, Taylee was able to join me at my Friday night concerts. YAY!  First time she hasn't been called in to work on a Friday night in a long time.  First stop, Kimberly Lefavre and Mitch Triellis' Star Bar venue.  Great to see one of the older venues in SL continuing on.  There was an appearance by Hefner and a bunny too!
Last concert of the evening was at the long standing outdoor venue, Kickin Club.  Equally rewarding is to actually have a reasonable time in the day to actually perform here, special thanks to ScrtsSafe and LilMiss for making this possible.  As always great to see some familiar faces, and to meet some new friends.  And to have my lady accompany me ... Love you, Tay. XOXOXOXO

After wrapping up for the evening, we got a notice that our good friend, Keeba Tammas, was singing at Cheyanne Nowles' Blues Warehouse.  As it's always fun to take in a Keeba Tammas performance, and certainly to take in a new venue, we jumped at the chance.  Keeba, as always, brings high energy with a healthy dash of goofiness to all her performances, and that, my friends, is what makes her special and unique.  The Blues Warehouse, as well, is kicking into full swing after what would appear to be a summer break.  Good to see venues able to manage themselves to be able to give their owners a break, and then be able to kick back into full swing.  Awesome build, Cheyanne, and GREAT LINEUP!  Check this venue out on Friday and Saturday nights.

Blessings: Friendships and Relationships

So it is for reasons like this that eventually I would come to create a blog that is more than just a place to announce when my next concert is going to be (I have two coming up later tonight, BTW .. STOP! STOP! Bad Cranston!!)

ahem ...

Anyway ... I just celebrated my 44th RL birthday yesterday, and it was one of the more exciting birthdays I've had in recent years, and it had more to do with the relationships I have created in the past weeks, months and years than any type of reward in the manner of a physical gift.

My relationship with my wife, Taylee, is one I cherish.  It has been the longest I have been connected to someone, and it has more to do with communication than any type physical attraction (but don't misread me, friends, there is major physical attraction ... lol.)  Every day she and I find a place to relax and share things with each other.  I've revealed so much to her.  The innermost secrets that I would only trust to one that I share such a deep connection with.  I also feel a trust from her that is unique.  I feel a huge responsibility to that trust, and would not betray it.

We also have a network of friends that we share.  This is unique from where I started in SL, and certainly from where I started singing in Second Life.  I would never say that singing in SL was strictly business when I first started out, but it was definitely more about exposure for myself than about really making relationships that matter.  I remember someone asking me recently if having a partner in SL (and certainly one that I make no bones about mentioning during my performances,) would diminish the allure of an SL singers impact.  My answer is decidedly no, as those who would be affected by that have plenty of other performers they can listen to.  Meanwhile, Taylee and I have created firm friendships with people who respect a good solid caring relationship.  Most of them are couples, BTW, and there are a few that have met each other at concerts I have presented, a fact I am particularly proud of.

It is a goal of mine, and I daresay Taylee as well, to forge stronger connections with our friends as the days weeks and months go by, and that by doing so, the web of connections grows stronger, wider, and more enriching as I enter into my 45th year of RL existence.  You are, after all, the best birthday gift I have received this year.  A special thanks to those who were able to make it to the party yesterday, and to those who were unable to attend, your presence was felt, and I thank you for your continued friendship and fellowship as well.

Cranston Yordstorm Birthday Party Pirate Bash!!!!

Hello my friends,

Cranston here!

My RL birthday is TODAY, September 28th, and we're having a pirate party to celebrate.  The Club CTO performances tonight will be moved to the party space, A cool pirate ship we've erected on the Woods Of Marathon Caye grounds.  The party will have a pirate theme, and we'd love as many people to participate in the theme as would like to.

To that end, if you wanted to come, and felt like donning some pirate garb, here is an LM to a place on a sim called Fair Winds, that is basically your one stop shop for pirate gear.

CLICK HERE FOR GK Designs (Pirate Gear LM)

You do not HAVE to come in GK designs pirate gear, and you do not have to come in pirate gear AT ALL.  This is merely a suggestion for ideas for you.  We would love to have you come no matter what.

The artist schedule is the same as any other weekly Club CTO schedule, I'll be singing at 5PM SLT, and BigJim Allerhand at 6PM SLT.

Here's the LM for the location

So come on over tonight!!!  We'z a Birthday to celebrate!!!

Lots of fun at Grove Stream Park last night.

Dancing with Taylee to Johnny Reid's "Dance With Me" at
Grove Stream Park last night, September 26, 2011.
It was a cool night at Grove Stream Park last night.  Taylee and I arrived 25-30 minutes early to catch Chandra Deed as she wrapped up her concert from 5-6PM.  Super-high energy performer, is Chandra.  Great selection of tunes, and clearly the chop to be able to handle them.

The manager of Lightnin Lowtide, Sandy, was celebrating a birthday, which only ADDED to the festivities.  Super fun when you get to have a birthday party.  Sometimes in RL (especially in later years) birthday parties are simple considered kids stuff.  However, being a gigantic kid, it's a great treat to have a birthday party thrown for you.  Hope you had a happy birthday yesterday, Sandy!

It WOULD seem that adding Johnny Reid's "Dance With Me" was a good choice as a song to add to my set, people love hearing it, and it gives me the perfect opportunity to get up to dance and sing with Taylee.  I love you, lady!

Chock full day for Cranston!

After a pleasant afternoon spending time with my sweetie, playing (and winning 3 of 4) En Garde with her, and watching the Detroit Lions triumph in overtime against the Vikings (BOO!) my evening was anything but relaxing.

LilMissLara Resident: Arboretum Hostess
Taylee and I introduced our newest staff member to The Arboretum, lilmisslara Resident.  She'll be hosting for DJ WookieChew Muircastle on  Sundays from 3-5PM SLT.  We're very happy to have her aboard!

Taylee joins me on the piano at Palais des Reves Last Night at 4PM SLT
Always excited when my lovely wife, Taylee, can join me at concerts.  Rather than perch herself on the top of my Musical Alchemy grand, she elected to accompany me herself, while I pulled out the ANAM Microphone and serenaded the folks at Palais des Reves from 4-5PM SLT.  Love you, honey! XOXOXO

Taylee and I dancing during her favorite new tune, Johnny Reid's
"Dance With Me" during my 5-6PM concert at The Arboretum.

After Palais des Reves, we rushed back to The Arboretum for my portion of the evenings entertainment.  Always a treat to provide a formal venue for romance on our sim, and also to provide a live music presence.  We don't regret opening up our sim one BIT!!!  Also great to see familiar faces in the crowd.

Love at Elegance!

Whenever my lovely wife, Taylee, is able to join me at a concert, it is truly a special moment.  She had to work this evening in RL, but was able to stay for the whole event at Elegance Ballroom tonight before she left.

Taylee recently suggested I put Johnny Reid's ballad, "Dance With Me," in the set, and not only is it a favorite of hers, the audience also seems to like it.  "It's A Keeper," was shouted out at the inaugural.  Whenever I sing it, I pull her up into my arms and we share a dance.

Special thanks to Charleston Enterprises for asking me to perform in their venues.  It's been a wonderful first week.

Fun Friday Performances!

Serenading my lovely wife, Taylee, at Grove Stream Park at Whispering Winds
Friday afternoon, I got a call from the gang at Grove Stream Park.  Bo Hoyes had lost internet, so did a fun impromptu performance in the afternoon.  Shaylin Morane and the 7th Heaven crew have really outdone themselves with this collection of venues.  Looking forward to playing there on Monday at 6PM.

Grove Stream Park is situated in the fork of a rushing stream, with beautiful wild
creatures scattered through out.
Then at 6PM, Taylee and I went to perform at one of the old stand-by's in it's new location on Hellspar, The Star Bar.  A delight to perform for new friends, and to see an old friend that I hadn't heard from in well over one year.

Cranston's Personal Touch!

Hello my friends,

GUESS WHO!  Taylee and I have started an official blog for The Woods Of Marathon Caye, which features the points of interest n the sim, as well as posting events at our two venues, Club CTO and The Arboretum.  BUT ... THIS page is provided for those with a personal interest in what goes on BEHIND THE SCENES!!!

It is a glimpse at my performance schedule, and will point out the fun things that Taylee and I do together while on SL.

I hope you enjoy this personal touch.

Your friend, Cran!
